Low-profile Roof Vents

I made these 32oz copper roof vents for this sort of tile roof. They were made for this 5/12 pitch roof, but these can be custom designed to fit with any roof pitch that you have.

They have a stainless-steel screen across the opening to keep out critters. This screne is hard to cut with tin snips, so a racoon is not likely able to claw of chew through this screen. To see more images of these follow this link: Facebook photo album

Cost: $500 each plus the cost for a wood crate and freight outside Oregon

Here is a low-profile roof vent I made for a comomposite shingle roof. It was made for a 6/12 pitch roof, but these can be custom designed to fit with any roof pitch or venting needs that you have.

They can also be custom designed to fit over ugly pipe vents as needed. You just cut the pipe short and add a right angle elbow on top. Then cover it with this screened vent shield.

Louvered Roof Vents

Here is a 4 part set of dummy louvered roof vents just for a decorative feature I made for a contractor named David Lee in Birmingham, Alabama for his client Hakem Isa. They were made for a 7/12 pitch roof. 3 units were 5' wide and one was 8' wide.

The contactor did not even need to attach plywood over these. I attached a pair of 2x4s just behind the OG crown molding for 3" wide wood surface to attach the plywood onto. I then covered the plywood outer edge with copper T metal flashing. All he needed to do was tack down the plywood along the back edges and cover with shingles.

Cost: $3,725 including the wood crate and truck freight to Birmingham, Alabama (9/09)

Here is a screened louvered roof vent I made for a contractor: Ducote Construction in Alexandria, Louisiana. It was made for a 12/12 pitch roof. I made most of this top cover in a single seamless sheet of copper, as seen here.

I supported this hollow chamber with these 2x3 boards for added strength. It also provided a good attachment for the stainless steel screen inside. It is 36" wide without the 6" wide flashing flange, so in all it was 4' wide

Cost: $900 including the wood crate and truck freight to Alexandria, Louisiana (4/09)

Siding Vent

This is a vent for mounting in siding for client Doug Szakacsy in Moorepark California.

He also had ordered a large chimney cap, vented turret roof cap w/weathervane support mount inside, along with some other custom flashing. This was about 13.5" wide and 5" tall ISD. I now use a stronger stainless steel screen that is more bold than window screen weave so it would not plug with dust so fast and need less maintenance. The cost for these are $140 each php, but can be custom made to any size you need. They would be $20 less if you are local and can come here to pick them up.

Roof Pipe Vent Flashings & Screened Covers

Here's an octagon shaft pipe vent cover w/simplistic seamless weather-heads

I first made a chimney flashing kit for this client: Vince Visoskas in Chester Springs Pennsylvania. Then he asked me to make this set of 2 roof flashing pipe jacks for some 3" ABS sewer pipes. They were built to the clients specifications to go on a 7.5/12 pitch roof with a 4" inside collar to go over the plastic pipes and a w/stainless steel screen to keep pot pests. The collar was made 12" tall and the base flange extends just 4" out from the side.

Cost: $100 each packed in the same wood crate as the chimney flashing kit (11/12)

Here is a round shaft pipe vent cover w/o weather-heads.

I first made a turret roof cap for this client: Ducote Construction in Alexandria, Louisiana. Then he asked me to make this set of 4 roof flashing pipe jacks and the roof vent seen below. They were built to the clients specifications to go on a 12/12 pitch roof with a 5.25" inside collar to go over some natural gas exhaust pipes. The collar was made 18" tall on the high side and 23" tall on the lower side.

I later found out that the contractor was thinking that I was going to make covers for these like the turret roof cap I made him, to shed the rain. Although through out the quote process he had not mentioned that detail. Being a Roofer I expected he knew just what he wanted and I did not imagine I needed to ask him if he wanted rain covers for these. I had sent him these photos through e-mail well before they shipped out and he had not said a word about the covers still. It was not until after he had received them that he wrote asking where the covered were. I offered to quickly make them for him, but it would cost more, since they were not in the original contract. He could not wait and needed to figure something else out. I never found out what he did with these. The point being; how important it is to make your expectations clear.

Cost: $240 each including the wood crate and shipping (4/09)

Deluxe Tapered Screened Flashing Covers for Pipe Vents

These pipe vent flashings were made for a contractor; David Lee of Casey/Lee Builders in Birmingham, Alabama, Ph# 205-229-1245.  These were made to cover some 3" plastic vent pipes through a flat roof that is covered with copper, so there are to be soldered down in place. That is why I made the bases wider to help keep the heat away from the plastic pipes while soldering them down. This taper also adds a good deal of stability to the 18" tall cone. These did not need a wide flashing flange, but if they are used for a tapered roof with shingles they would need a 4" to 6" flange out past the base of the vertical sleeve.

He wanted 2 of these with a screened cap over the top, where the other two will just have the top cut down vertically on the bends to bend the extra copper down inside the vent pipes.  These have a base that is 7.5" inside with a 10" wide flange. The cap is also 10" wide. The 8 bends add a good deal of strength and also help make these more uniform than a circular tube, as seen below these.

Cost: $237.50 each for the capped units, and just $157.50 for the pipe jacks
including the wood crate and shipping (6/09)

This is for a 5" wide vent with an 18" wide screened weather-head cover. This was made for Hank Destree who is one of my rare Canadian Clients.
