This copper chimney pipe
cover and cap projects is for my client Steve Fenley in Mulino,
Oregon. It is for their 8" stainless steel chimney pipe
that is stained with rust streaks. The inside of the base chamber is
22" x 24". The flashing flange is 34" x 36" for a 6" wide flashing all
around. I made it with a much wider base, so there would be no need
for the roof braces to hold it steady in high winds.

These are shots taken by the client
of his existing rusty flashing. After removing the roofing and
the rusty flashing collar he got these shots and detailed measurements
for me to build the new copper cover to fit over all this.

Here is the bottom flange with the center cut
out and tabs bent up to connect with the tapered support collar that
is 24" tall at the lower base. The shot below shows the set up I made
to simulate the roof angle and an 8.5" wide plastic bucket in the center
at the right height to get the measurements for each side of the support
collar.

This shows the bottom section completed from 2 different angles.

| Here is the octagon shaped flue pipe cover with
a tapered top to shed water to the outside that might spray in through
the screen.

Then I made this copper support ring for the screen
to mount over this tapered top of the flue pipe.

I attached the 16 gauge stainless steel screen.
It is 12" wide and 9" tall.

I bent the top edges down at the angle of the
top cap and made a copper attachment ring.

Cost for this project:
$600 w/o shipping
Note: again I under bid this project
by $183, but I stuck the the price I had quoted. He was a very good
client to work with. Here is the photos of the installed cover that
he sent me on 8/20/08:
