CBD's Masco Gazebo Roof Cap

This very custom copper gazebo roof cap was made for a client named John Masco in Middletown, New Jersey. This is probably the strangest gazebo caps we are likely to ever make:
(a) The gazebo was built with an odd number of sides to it.
(b) If that was not strange enough; all 5 sides have different dimensions, and there for different pitches to each side.
(c) To top that; the client decided he wanted the copper roof cap to be steeper than the roof pitch.
(d) Along with a built-in screened roof vent to the cap.
(e) With a cover cap over the vent that has an even steeper pitch than the main cap portion.
(f) And it is all to line up with the roof peak, so I have to make all the new calculation from his set of dimensions.

Lucky for us, in the first e-mail the client John Masco had provide us with a good set of detailed measurements of the roof to work from. I had to first make a model of the roof it's self in cardboard. The trickiest part was to keep the peak right over the peak of the gazebo roof peak.

I was still off by about an inch too far to the left of center, but I feel that I did well considering the difficulty of this fabrication.

I imagine any other shop would have refused this project or charged 3 to 4 times as much. Given this; the client still complained it was not perfect, but considering the cost and delays of sending it back to me for alterations, he conceded to accept it as is. Below are some of the photos we took during the different stages of fabrication.

We had to work into the design this screened roof vent covered with a smaller cap that was also design in the same manner, but at a much steeper pitch.

The quoted cost was $650 for everything including shipping cost for this very custom fabrication.
