Below are some fancy, yet inexpensive thin copper and brass finials we have to offer, but first a few frequently asked questions answered:

What about custom finials that are stronger?
It is true that these finials shown below are not made by us and may be built with a thinner copper that costs less, is easier to cut, and form. They are made with the mass-production press machines in foreign countries by slave labor (by our standards). They are soldered together with minimal overlapped seams. They also come with a cheap steel shaft for support if you were to buy them from any other retailer, but I replace this steel mast with a sold brass rod, so all finials through us are priced with this in mind.

I imagine there are shops that are set up to build stronger custom finials, like we do for the roof caps, but they would be very costly. A stronger custom USA made finial would range in cost from $500 to $5,000, depending on how large. The wait time would be a lot longer as well. We have not yet met a client needing a special design willing to pay that much for custom work, so I have not set up the equipment for doing that kind of work, since we have these good alternatives to choose from.

Below are some very attractive finial at affordable prices. We are just retailers for Good Directions, where you will find lots of inexpensive weathervanes and other copper decorations. You will not find prices listed on their web site, since they are strictly a wholesale company. Do we need a stronger custom made finial?
A stronger custom finial can still get damaged in a storm. If these finials got damaged, they would not be as much a loss as a custom made finial. Another consideration is if you were to find a different finial or weathervane that you liked better, you can easily change it out without feeling such a huge loss.

How much do these cheaper ones cost?
They range from $90 to $770. There is 14 different finials available with their price listed below and a few shown on their web site that we do not have good clear photos for yet. This include a solid brass or stainless steel rod to replace the cheap steel rod they come with, along with shipping within the continental USA. A detail you are not likely to find else where, so don't be fooled by what may seem to be a cheaper price on other web sites.

Note: Several decades later I imagine these steel rods would become a mass of rust inside the roof cap and finial pipe that could even burst these copper pipes. Even if it did not burst the pipe it would certainly make replacement very difficult, if not impossible. If you are ordering a roof cap from us but already have the finial, we could include a brass rod with your order for an added $25. You will need to specify this in your letter to us.

Do we have to buy these from you with a roof cap order?
No, but we do commonly need to customize the finial and mast rod to fit best with our custom copper roof caps, so they will go together without any hang-ups, has a weather tight seal, and make sure the solid 3/4" brass rod for the mast we supply is just the right length. You are not required to get them through us with a roof cap order, but of course we cannot assure you that they will go together without any difficulty that way. If you did find another source, you could have it shipped over to us, in order to customize it and make sure they will join together just right. It is rare that we have not had to make some modifications. We also will solder a straight connector on the bottom of the pipe on the finial, so it is sealed to the support pipe in the cap, yet remain interchangeable.
