Does Copper By Design make custom finials?
I could, but I cannot begin to compete with the low cost of these mass-produced finials listed below. So no, these finials are not made by CBD, and may be built with a thinner copper than I would use.  They are made with mass-production press machines by the thousands in foreign countries by slave labor, soldered together with minimal overlapped seams, and come with a cheap painted steel shaft mast rod if you were to buy them from any other Authorized Dealer, which there are many. You can find them on-line of even locally.

Although, I'm the only Dealer who replaces that cheap steel rod with a sold brass rod, so all the finials through CBD are priced with this in mind. I also offer a 15% discount off these listed prices with any order of our custom copper roof cap or chimney cap. My specialty is to build a much more reliable finial support for your roof top mount than any other mounting available. I even have made some gable end roof top mounts for these.

A stronger custom USA made finial would range in cost from $500 to $5,000, depending on how large and ornate. The wait time would be a longer as well. We have yet to meet a client needing a special design, who's willing to pay that much for a custom finial, so I have none to show you here with all these less expensive alternatives to choose from.

There's 18 different styles, or 42 different finials if you count all the sizes available.  The prices for each one includes a custom length solid brass mast rod to replace the cheap steel rod they come with, along with shipping within the continental USA. A detail you are not likely to find else where, so don't be fooled by what may seem to be a cheaper price on another Dealers web site.

Note: Several decades later I can only imagine how those steel rods would become rusty inside the roof caps support pipe, which would swell and could possibly burst the copper pipe. Even if it did not burst the pipe it would certainly make replacement very difficult, if not impossible. If you are ordering a roof cap from us, but already have the finial or weathervane, I could include a brass rod with your order for an additional $25. You will need to specify this in your order.
